This document sets out guidelines on technical aspects of writing style that are used in the newsletter. These exist to help achieve consistency throughout the publication.
Content that doesn’t conform to the guidelines is never discriminated against – rather, it is edited appropriately – however, contributors are asked to observe the guidelines to reduce the amount of editing necessary.
Telephone numbers should be formatted as in this example:
01234 567890
Please do not use dashes or extra spaces. You need not include the Tackley area code.
Internet and e-mail addresses should be all lowercase (except on the rare occasions when Internet addresses do include capital letters):
www.tackleynewsletter.co.uk
www.TackleyNewsletter.co.uk
The ‘http://’ is not printed because it is automatically assumed.
Times should be written in the 12-hour clock, with a colon separating the hours and minutes, and a space before the ‘am’ or ‘pm’, which should be lowercase. For example:
2:00 pm
2.00 pm
14:00
2:00PM
Acronyms and abbreviations should not include full-stops:
Mrs Robinson is coming round ASAP
Mrs. Robinson is coming round A.S.A.P.
